Two days ago, RIM CEO Thorsten Heins unveiled the new BlackBerry 10 platform, but investors don’t seem impressed: today, the BlackBerry manufacturer’s stock hit an eight-year low of $11.91 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

There were a couple features that I thought might be cool, but overall it seems too little too late. It appears others feel that way too. Let’s hope this one ships with email this time.

I mentioned in an earlier post how my viewing habits had changed with my Netflix and over the air HD setup. I stated that the one thing I do miss due to my lack of a cable subscription is live sports.

I proposed that the major sports leagues offer a new online streaming package, one where you would get all the games for one team regardless of local blackouts.

Along with the start of the 2012 Toronto Blue Jays season, Rogers has started offering a service very close to what I was talking about. They are calling it “anyplace tv”.

Basically what it does is provide every Blue Jays game live for free online to current Rogers customers. The streams aren’t exactly in HD, but are pretty damn close and look really good on an HDTV.

The one bummer is that you have to be a “Rogers Digitial VIP TV customer with a subscription to Sportsnet”. Not ideal, but I didn’t think that these changes would happen overnight… especially with a company like Rogers.

It appears they also have every live game for the Toronto Raptors and for the Leafs it says “See you next season!”. This year with the Leafs they only had live streams of the games on the network LEAFSTV. Hopefully, like basketball and baseball, they will live stream all Leafs games that are broadcast on SportsNet.

Until then, I’ll be watching my Jays using my friend’s login.

James Cameron Updates Sky for Titanic Rerelease

Cameron made only one change: the stars in the picture during one particular shot near the end of the film after the ship went down were replaced to accurately reflect what exactly was in the night sky at that time and date.

As a visual effects artist, I really enjoy this news.
